BITZ is available to a wide variety of users as a place for cooperative project work: the city, unibz students and pupils, private individuals, inventors, entrepreneurs, freelancers, artists, craftspeople and, of course, makers. Models and prototypes can be produced at the BITZ and, thanks to new production technologies, material objects can also be created directly from digital information. In addition to the daily activities, introductory courses on machines, hands-on workshops and lectures take place at the BITZ. As a training laboratory, the BITZ is part of the international Fablab network. The organised and funded activities support and spread the culture of digital handicrafts, repairing and DIY with the help of new technologies.
