Company
The Sensor System Technologies (SST) laboratory is jointly run by the Free University of Bozen/Bolzano (Sensing Technologies Lab) and Eurac Research (Center for Sensing Solutions). The aim is the development, creation and characterisation of electronic components and their integration into complex systems and solutions for data acquisition, control and conditioning, and energy generation. The SST offers a set of tools and technology for a variety of applications including environmental/urban surveillance, the Internet of Things, precision farming, food science, biomedicine and sports. The laboratory is also involved in the Green and Food sectors.
Products and services
The SST offers three areas of expertise: • Platform for materials and components: synthesis, deposition, functionalization and characterization of thin films and nanomaterials; development, manufacturing and characterization of sensors, energy harvesters and actuators based on printing and micro-fabrication. • Systems platform: development and characterization of circuits and integrated systems for signal conditioning, communication and energy management. • Data platform: organization, access, processing, release, analysis and quality control of data; development and implementation of algorithms, use of web applications, RESTful APIs and web services to OGC standard as well as decision-support systems, Cloud computing & automation of monitoring solutions.
