Company
Leitalpin has been located on the NOI Techpark in Bozen since its formation at the end of 2018. The aim of this start-up is to develop innovative ropeway technology for harvesting wood on steep terrain. In contrast to existing systems, this uses an electric drive in combination with energy recovery when travelling downhill. The resulting advantages are intended to contribute to more sustainable forest management in the Alpine region. Leitalpin has significant know-how in the areas of Alpine wood harvesting, electric drives, battery storage and the development of machine control systems.
Products and services
Leitalpin is working on the development of a fully electric cableway for use in Alpine wood harvesting and for the transport of materials on e.g. construction sites that are difficult to access. The machine is to be characterized by maximum productivity combined with low operating costs.

In May 2021, development of Leitalpin’s second prototype was underway. The first version of the all-electric cable crane is scheduled for market launch in 2022.
